About the Book

Walt and Winnie’s Wondrous Words is a book designed to help children develop a richer English vocabulary with confidence and enjoyment. It is aimed at students from 10 to 13 mainly, but of course some older children will enjoy it too! Teachers Resource Pack

Information for Teachers

Each section contains FIVE Teachers Resource Packs. Start with Section One and you will see all the activities for every page, making the learning fun and complete.

I am sending the first page of the sections in its entirety, but because parts 3,4,5,7,8,9 and 10 are repeated on every page, I am saving papers and just sending you parts 1,2 and 6 for different pages because they are different. For example, in Section One you have all page 14 of the Teachers Resource Pack, but after that there are only parts 1,2 and 6 from pages 15, 16, 17 and 18 because they are different.

On page 11 of the book is the Wondrous Words Game. I recommend that this is played at the end of every Section, along with the crosswords and word searches. As a reading exercise the class can read out the instructions and the teachers can explain.

I also recommend that you prepare A4 size display sheets of the words in a section, to have them displayed at times in the classroom.

In Part One – Match the Words - on every list of activities there are the ten words with the definitions underneath. Before doing this, look at and read the page from the book and listen as a class to the Pronunciation for that page.

Also included for Teachers are Students Workbooks in which the students can complete the Teachers Resource Pack exercises for every page.

Finally, I recommend that every child start a New Words book in which they have a page for every letter of the alphabet. They write the new words from the WWWW books and any other words that they find in different subjects. Next to the words they must write the definition.
